Evanston, Ill. (Nov. 23, 2009) -- Bethesda Lutheran Communities will hold the Second City Soiree in Evanston on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009. The event, to be held at the Hotel Orrington, begins with a social hour at 6 p.m., which will be followed by dinner and entertainment by the Piano Man. Tickets are selling for $50 and guests will be able to take advantage of great deals at an impressive silent auction.

"The Chicago Associate Board is committed to raising funds for the organization," says Dr. John E. Bauer, president and CEO of Bethesda. "The funds raised through this event will directly contribute to Bethesda mission to offer services and supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those living in communities throughout Illinois."

This is the first year that Bethesda's Chicago Associate Board is hosting this semi-formal event. The board, founded in May 2008, consists of community leaders between the ages of 21 and 50 who are committed to spreading awareness of Bethesda's mission to a new generation, and who also seek to raise funds to support that mission.

"I really appreciate the time and effort the Chicago Associate Board put into making the Second City Soiree an innovative fund raising event," says John Nickels, vice president of Development for Bethesda. "This social gathering offers a unique opportunity for donors and volunteers to come together and celebrate Bethesda’s wonderful ministry to people with developmental disabilities."

Now in its second century of service, Bethesda Lutheran Communities provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the country and around the world. Bethesda offers many different types of services for individuals and their families, including a variety of residential settings, supported-living programs and outreach services.
