Bethesda Hires New Development Director

Watertown, Wis (July 1, 2010) -- A newly appointed Vice President of Development began work at Bethesda Lutheran Communities this week. John Amato is now part of the Mission Advancement team and is charged with developing overall strategies for Bethesda’s fundraising efforts.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to join such a wonderful, faith-based organization like Bethesda,” says Amato. “Its mission and the people we serve will only elevate my passion for my new role. I look forward to a long, healthy, and blessed tenure at Bethesda!”

In addition to working on Bethesda’s many fundraising opportunities, Amato will also cultivate major donors. In his role, he will oversee Bethesda’s Development department, as well as the Mail Center.

“I am very excited about the level of expertise John brings to this position,” says. Dr. John E. Bauer, president and CEO of Bethesda. “His passion and enthusiasm will be a valuable asset to the executive team, and to Bethesda as a whole!”

Before coming to Bethesda, Amato served as Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at Des Moines University. Prior to that, he served as Vice Chancellor for University Advancement at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Amato has over 25 years of experience in fundraising and non-profit development tasks.

Now in its second century of service, Bethesda Lutheran Communities provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the country and around the world. Bethesda offers many different types of services for individuals and their families, including a variety of residential settings, supported-living programs and outreach services.
