Bethesda Appoints Nickels VP of Enterprise Development (2010 - March 10)
Bethesda Lutheran Communities has appointed John Nickels to the position of Vice President of Enterprise Development. The newly created division will include both the current retail operations, primarily consisting of thrift stores, as well as the expansion of new business ventures specifically designed to support the organization’s mission and ministry.
Bethesda Employee Retires After Decades of Service (2010 - February 15)
After nearly 28 years of service to Bethesda Lutheran Communities, Ardis Loeber, regional director for the Watertown Campus, will retire this week. Loeber began her employment with Bethesda as a direct support professional, but worked in a number of different areas before transitioning to her current position several years ago.
Third Annual Golden Gala to be Held at Italian Community Center (2010-February 2)
Bethesda Lutheran Communities will hold its third annual Golden Gala on March 6, 2010 at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee. The Golden Gala, which begins at 5:30 p.m., is a semi-formal event that features a dinner, raffle and auction. Guests will also enjoy dancing
and music by the Piano Man.
Lutheran Disability Ministries Joins Bethesda Lutheran Communities (2010-January 19)
Officials at Bethesda Lutheran Communities recently announced that Lutheran Disability Ministries (LDM) has affiliated with the organization. LDM is an Indiana-based organization that works with Lutheran churches to better equip congregations to minister people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Bethesda Thrift Shop to Open in Hales Corners (2009-December 2)
Bethesda Lutheran Communities will open its 23rd thrift shop on Saturday, Dec. 5. The Hales Corners store is located at 5317 S. 108th Street.
Leader in Field of Developmental Disabilities Presented with Christian Service Award (2009-November 25)
Nella Uitvlugt, Executive Director of Friendship Ministries, was presented with the 2009 Christian Service Award from Bethesda Lutheran Communities. Friendship Ministries works to establish one-on-one relationships between people with disabilities and volunteer mentors.
Bethesda to Host Second City Soiree (2009-November 12)
Bethesda Lutheran Communities will hold the Second City Soiree in
Evanston on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009. The event, to be held at the Hotel Orrington, begins with a social
hour at 6 p.m., which will be followed by dinner and entertainment by the Piano Man. Tickets are selling
for $50 and guests will be able to take advantage of great deals at an impressive silent auction.
Installation for Bethesda's New Executive Vice President to Take Place This Weekend (2009-November 12)
The Rev. Dr. Jacob A.O. Preus III will be formally installed as executive
vice president of mission advancement and spiritual life for Bethesda Lutheran Communities on Friday, Nov. 13.
The installation will be held at Schujahn Memorial Chapel of the Good Shepherd on Bethesda’s Watertown campus.
The service of installation begins at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a dessert reception. The public is invited and
encouraged to attend.
Bethesda Hosta Guests from Kazakhstan (2009-November 11)
This week Bethesda Lutheran Communities welcomes three guests
from Kazakhstan. Kairedon Zhaxhgulov, Dildash Iskokova and Marina Paskonova are all involved in disability
services in their country: Zhaxhgulov runs a facility for people with disabilities, Iskokova is a government
official and Paskonova is a part of the Rainbow Center of Life program.
Bethesda to Host Upcoming Annual Banquet at the Milwaukee Art Museum (2009-November 4)
Bethesda Lutheran Communities will host its Annual Banquet at the Milwaukee Art Museum this year. The event, to be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, will honor those who have made positive contributions to the field of developmental disabilities.
Bethesda Promotes Employee (2009 - October 29)
Ann Lambert, former store manager of the Sheboygan Thrift Shop,
was promoted to district director of retail operations, officials at Bethesda Lutheran Communities
recently announced.
Bethesda Appoints New Executive Vice President (2009-October 5)
Bethesda Lutheran Communities has extended a divine call to Dr.
Jacob A.O. Preus to serve as Executive Vice President for Mission Advancement and Spiritual Life. Preus
begins on Monday, Oct. 5. The Mission Advancement team of Bethesda includes the divisions of
Communications, Development and Religious Life and Church Relations.
Bethesda Golf Tournament to be Held in Cypress (2009-September 29)
Bethesda Lutheran Communities will host the 19th Annual Good
Samaritan Golf Tournament in Cypress on Monday, Oct. 12. The tournament, to be held at the Cypress
Lakes Golf Club, begins at noon with a shotgun start and four-person scramble.
Lutheran Disability Outreach to Become Part of Bethesda (2009-September 22)
Bethesda Lutheran Communities recently announced the
acquisition of Lutheran Disability Outreach (LDO), formerly a ministry of Lutheran Social Services
of Indiana (LSSI).
Bethesda Employee Has Story Published by Chicken Soup Series (2009-September 21)
Sandra Rice, a parish ministry consultant for Bethesda Lutheran
Communities, recently discovered that she will have a devotional she wrote published in Chicken Soup
for the Soul: Devotional Stories for Women. The book, which will hit shelves on Oct. 27, 2009, features
101 stories affirming God’s unique role in the lives of women.
Direct Support Professionals Displays Dedication to the Job (2009-September 14)
Monday, Sept. 14 marks the beginning of National Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week. The United States Senate designates this week to “commend direct support professionals as integral in supporting the long-term support and services system in the United States.”
