Sharing the love of Christ with children and adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities is the main focus of Bethesda's ministry. We also provide resources to educate friends, families, congregations and other service providers about developmental disabilities.
Bethesda provides a variety of support services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Religious education programs are the cornerstone of our ministry.
- Locate a church in their community
- Provide Bible studies
- Train people and congregations about the spiritual needs of people with developmental disabilities
Bethesda is a Lutheran human care ministry that maintains close and friendly ties with all the Lutheran churches.
We are independent of ecclesiastical control, yet grateful for a history of generous and visionary support from all the Lutheran "synods".
Bethesda is a Recognized Service Organization (RSO) of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
International Programs
In August 2001, Bethesda became a member of Impact, an international alliance of five Lutheran-based organizations dedicated to helping people with developmental disabilities around the world. In addition to Impact projects, Bethesda directly sponsors other projects in the Dominican Republic, Kenya, Latvia and Kazakhstan.
Bethesda reaches out to congregations, Christian schools, service providers and communities with an array of resources to educate others about disabilities.
