Information Collected on the Bethesda Community Site

We collect personal information when you register with the Bethesda Community, when you use Bethesda Community services, and when you visit Bethesda Community pages including the Advocacy Action Center page hosted by CapWiz. When you register we ask for information such as your name, email address, birth date, address and preferences information.  When you register and sign in, you are not anonymous to us.  Bethesda collects information about your activities on the Bethesda Community pages.  Bethesda uses information for the following general purposes: to customize content you see, to fulfill your requests for services, to improve our services, and to conduct research on improving the Bethesda Community.  We limit access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information.  We have physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect personal information about you.

Cookies

When you use the online shopping cart in our Staff Development and Special Religious Education catalogs our site stores a temporary cookie in your browser's memory. The cookie acts as an ID tag to let our server know who you are so it can manage and remember your information (i.e. the items you have put into your shopping cart) while you shop.

The cookie simply tells our site where to locate your temporary information on the server. No one can examine the cookie in your browser's memory to find your personal information. When you exit your browser, the cookie is automatically expired and your information can no longer be accessed.

If you are using a public computer and are concerned about the privacy of your information after you are done shopping, make sure to exit the browser when you are finished. This will insure that your information will not be available to the next person to use the computer.

Security of Credit Card Information

When you order items from our site using a credit card, your credit card number is accepted and processed by VeriSign. All transactions between customers and VeriSign occur over connections that use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts the information submitted. We do not reveal credit card numbers when confirming orders on our site or through e-mail.

Information You Submit

When you place an order, make a donation, register for a workshop, request information or submit a resume on our site, we do not sell or disclose your personal information to third parties. We do not add your e-mail address to any of our e-mail lists unless you specifically request that we do so.
