Dental Care Devotion
August 6, 2010
Michael De Dominick, Ministry Consultant – ORDental Care Devotion 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. (NIV)God created the human body in His glorious and beautiful image. Each one of us is a custom piece of artwork…like no other in the entire world. Even identical twins are unique from each other in some way.
Have you even thought of yourself as a piece of art? Probably not.
If you bought a famous painting like the Mona Lisa, how would you treat it? Would you lean it up against the wall of your garage? Or would you hang it prominently in your living room?
We tend to treat our bodies rather rough. We eat junk food and stay up much too late. We don’t exercise nearly as much as we should. We might generally keep clean, and brush our teeth. But, do we take time for the little things that help keep us healthy?
Do you floss? Most of us brush, but how many people actually floss daily? We know we are supposed to, but how often do we actually follow through on this? We all know how to take care of our bodies best, but we do not often actually care for them as we should.
Our bodies have been given to us to honor God. He paid a great price to free us from the bondage of sin. We are highly valued and sought after! We are called to be good stewards of the gifts God has given, and our bodies are a pretty major gift.
How are you glorifying God with your body? How are you caring for yourself in every way…physically, mentally, and emotionally?
Do you take care of the little things? Do you floss? Be a good steward of the gift God has given you.
Father, thank You for our bodies. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, help us to care for them as the beautiful parts of Your creation they are. Help us to use our bodies to glorify You. In Your holy Son’s name we pray. Amen.
