God Knows Me

God Knows Me

Psalm 139:1 & 3
O LORD, you have searched me and know me. …You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. (NIV)

We have an awesome God. Even with so many people in the world, He still knows and cares about each and every one of us. He knows when we are happy or angry, when we are well or sick, when we are content or frustrated. He knows what our actions and thoughts will be before we do or think them. He knows what we want before we pray for them. That is too big of an idea for us to understand.

This also means that God knows when we think things we shouldn’t, or when we are not thinking about the words when we pray. Even if everyone around us sees our smile, God knows if we are thinking something bad – or daydreaming instead of listening to our helpers, Bible Class Teacher, or pastor. We can keep no secrets from Him. He sees our every sin – some that we do not even realize we are doing. God knows all that we do, think and say, every moment of the day and night. This can be a scary thought. How can God love me when I do so many bad things?

As Christians, though, we know that Jesus loves us so much that He was willing to suffer and die for us, even though we sin so much. He did not have to die for us. He willingly did it out of His gracious love, and now, those sins are gone.

God also knows when we want to do and think the right things, and do the wrong ones instead. He knows our frustrations when we keep doing or thinking things we know we should not be thinking or doing. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, He forgives us. Now the verse for today is one of the comfort and love of God! We just thank and praise Him.

Dear heavenly Father, thank You so much for knowing each of us and loving us even when we sin. Thank You for sending Jesus to die for our sins. Through the Holy Spirit, help us to try to do Your will. Help us to remember Your love and to praise You by loving others. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
