For more than 15 years Bethesda has offered high quality staff training to community service providers. Throughout the year, Bethesda offers its most popular sessions in locations across the United States. Bethesda staff will also bring its sessions to a site of your choosing.

Building Supports for People with Challenging Behaviors

What you will learn:

  • how to properly assess a person with behavioral challenges
  • how to translate the assessment into intervention
  • how to implement proactive strategies

Medication and Medication Administration Update

What you will learn:

Through both lecture and interactive participation, this six-hour workshop includes:

  • discussion on disease processes of atherosclerosis (stroke, heart disease/heart attack, peripheral vascular disease) and Alzheimer’s disease
  • update on current and new medications for psychotropic (antipsychotics, antidepressants, Alzheimer’s disease), antiplatelet therapy (Aspirin, Aggrenox, Plavix) and pain management
  • medical and nursing aspects of supporting a person with heart disease, stroke or pain
  • review and update of regulations and what surveyors look for in regards to medications such as psychotropics and medication passes
  • interactive review of current knowledge of medications through case studies and hands-on stations

Person-Centered Workshop

What you will learn:

  • a person-centered and functional approach to supervising staff
  • key elements in the hiring and training process
  • the supervisor's role as trainer and coach
  • how to help develop and lead dynamic, person-centered teams

Person-Centered Planning Workshop

What you will learn:

  • the main principles of person-centered planning
  • the components of traditional planning, and their drawbacks
  • the challenges agencies are facing as they move toward person-centered planning
  • strategies for overcoming these challenges, especially in meeting ICF regulations
  • how to balance self-determination and risk

Training Staff in the Field of Developmental Disabilities Workshop

What you will learn:

  • how to develop a supportive environment with your staff training programs and how to promote it within your organization
  • ways to develop training materials for both new employees and current staff
  • factors to consider when designing effective and cost-efficient staff training materials
