Jesus Is Strength
August 24, 2010
Rev. Michael Schempf, Chaplain – WIJesus Is Strength Isaiah 40:31
…but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (NIV)Some days are easier than others. Then again, some days are harder than others, too. We have so many things that we have to do on those days that even getting out of bed seems scary.
Yet, we know that we have to. We have things to do: clean the yard, vacuum the carpets, get to work on time, pay the bills, feed the pets, and wash the clothes – and that’s just the beginning! Sometimes our responsibilities build up higher and higher, like a weed in the yard that you had planned to pull, but it’s growing faster than the grass around it.
Whenever you feel discouraged, always look to Jesus. He is the Savior, the One always here to help. The problem that most of us face in life is carrying too much of the burden upon ourselves, and not giving enough of it (or all of it) to Jesus.
When life has you so tired that you feel that you cannot go on, look to Jesus. When you cannot walk another step, cry out to Jesus. When you do not understand why people can be so mean, confide in Jesus. When your strength is gone, get on your knees and pray to Jesus.
Just remember: Do not take your eyes off of Jesus!
You see, that’s what God desires for us to come to Christ with open arms, embracing all that He truly is. We need to lay it all down at the cross and give all of our weaknesses to Him. All of it. Everything!
God blessed us with His Son, Jesus Christ, to help us understand this world. Jesus is here to carry you today, tomorrow and forever! Christ truly is the great Burden Bearer. Just as He bore the burden of the cross two thousand years ago for you and me, He bears our burdens each and every day for each and every one of us. As you come to Christ, you will truly begin to realize that He can give you peace, and peace is strength in Christ.
Dear Father in heaven, we are so tired. Yet, we know that You will be there for us. Father, we ask You to help us understand the burdens that we carry. Please help us to know that it is Jesus who carries them for us, today and always. In Jesus’ name we humbly pray. Amen.
