Putting Christ in the Center, Part 2
July 12, 2010
Judith Anderson, Ministry Consultant – INPutting Christ in the Center, part 2 Colossians 3:2
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (NIV)Yesterday, we talked about putting Christ at the center of our lives by doing everything just as if God Himself had asked us to do it. Today, we are looking at another way to put God in the center of our lives.
Some days, we have many things to do, and we spend most of the day thinking about doing those things, instead of thinking about God and His love for us and our love for Him.
The Bible verse for today teaches us that this is very much the opposite of what we should be doing.
Each day, we should wake up remembering that we are God’s children. We should start each day thinking about what we can do to serve God throughout that day. The questions we ask ourselves should not be what we want to do that day, but what does God want us to do.
Sometimes, we don’t have choices about the day’s activities. We might have to go to work, but we can try to work in a way that would please God and share God’s love with the people around us. It might be our turn to prepare supper, but we can think about God’s love while we make the salad.
All throughout our days, we should keep God at the center of our thoughts.
Sometimes, it is hard to remember God, but there are things we can do to help us remember. We can hang a cross on our wall. It will remind us when we see it to think about God. Maybe we could set our Bible out on a table or shelf to remind us.
What other things can you think of to help you remember to think about God?
Dear God, we want You at the center of our lives. Help remind us daily of Your love for us. Amen.
