In God’s Time

2 Thessalonians 3:16
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. (NIV)

Time is, and always will be, a big part of our lives. We mark time with our clocks and calendars, appointment books and special beepers all to keep us “on time.” We say to ourselves and others, “Today is a new day,” “It’s time to leave,” “We don’t want to be late,” “What time should I be there?”

We learn to be aware of time. As children, we learned to be on time for school. As we grow older, we mark our calendars to be on time for church, Bible class, our volunteer programs or dinners with family and friends. Time is always on our minds. We plan our time for breakfast, time for medications, and time for grocery shopping or time to get home for our favorite TV programs. There is a beginning and an end to our days, our appointments, our projects, our meetings and even our human lives. How much time can we put into one day? We live in the present, and we plan for the future.

It is comforting to know that God exists apart from time. Before our grandparents, parents, us or anything else, God was there. And God will always be there. God stepped into time through Jesus Christ to show us His love and mercy. God is there with us all the time. God makes all things beautiful in His time.

Never say we have no time for God. The most important time of our day is the time we spend alone with God. We must take time each day and come into God’s presence, asking in prayer for strength, guidance, wisdom and peace. May we find time each day to feel God’s love, fellowship and power to do His work.

Dear heavenly Father, as You bless us each day with life and new beginnings, may we find time each day to come to You in prayer, asking You to guide our thoughts, words and actions, and that all we say and do may be pleasing to You. Let nothing that we do each day be done without You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
