Bethesda's scholarships and awards program encourages Lutheran youth to develop God-pleasing attitudes and actions toward people with individual differences, and to consider careers in the field of developmental disabilities services. - $3,000 Scholarship for Two Lutheran College Students (entering the field of developmental disabilities)
- $3,000 Scholarship for a Lutheran Seminarian (WELS, LCMS, ELS)

$3,000 Scholarships for Two College Students (entering the field of developmental disabilities)
The application process includes a short, relevant essay, 100 hours of paid or volunteer work in the field of developmental disabilities, services and letters of reference.
Eligible candidates
- are active, communicant members of a Lutheran church,
- have achieved sophomore status or higher at a college or university, not necessarily a Lutheran college,
- have earned a minimum 3.0 overall GPA,
- and have an interest in a career in the field of developmental disabilities.

$3,000 Scholarship for a Lutheran Seminarian (WELS, LCMS, ELS)
The application process includes a short, relevant essay, 100 hours of paid or volunteer work in the field of developmental disabilities, services and letters of reference.
Eligible candidates
- are active, communicant members of a Lutheran church,
- have satisfactorily completed at least the first year of study at a WELS, LCMS or ELS seminary,
- and have a dedication to inclusive ministry to people with developmental disabilities in their future parish.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Awards for High School Seniors
The application process is designed to promote the student's awareness of the career opportunities in the field of developmental disabilities. Applicants must submit letters of reference, a transcript, documentation of at least 25 hours of paid or volunteer work in the field of developmental disabilities, and interview two professionals in the field and submit written summaries. Two $500.00 awards are given.
Eligible candidates
- are active, communicant members of a Lutheran church,
- have achieved senior status at any high school,
- have earned a minimum 3.0 overall GPA,
- and have an interest in a career in the field of developmental disabilities.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Awards for Lutheran Elementary Classes
The class completes four of eight activities designed to help them understand the challenges faced by people with disabilities and to encourage God-pleasing attitudes toward children and adults with disabilities.
Two awards ($250 each) may be given, one in each of the following categories:
- Lower grades - Pre-school through 3rd grade, including combined classes
- Upper grades - 4th - 8th grades, including combined classes
Eligible candidates
- are part of a Lutheran day school or Sunday school,
- complete activities that focus on an awareness and understanding of developmental disabilities,
- develop proper Christian attitudes toward people who have developmental disabilities,
- and prepare a "report" representative of the total class effort.
