Bethesda Announces Scholarship Awards for 2016-17 Academic School Year

Bethesda, in partnership with the Bethesda Auxiliary, is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2016-17 academic school year.

In all, 10 scholarships are available for Lutheran high school, college and seminary students who have career interest in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Recipients will be announced in July with four awards of $3,000 each being presented to current college students. Two awards of $3,000 each will be presented to seminary students. Finally, four awards of $500 each will be presented to high school seniors.

“This is an exciting opportunity for young people who are career focused,” said Rev. Jim Pressnell, vice president of Religious Life and Church Relations for Bethesda. “We believe these scholarships are a great way for students to connect with Bethesda and learn more about our mission and the people with support.”

The application deadline is May 1, 2016, and all applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average along with being active, communicant members of a Lutheran congregation. Other application requirements include documentation of volunteer or paid service to people with developmental disabilities, an essay and letters of recommendation.
