Bethesda Lutheran Communities has elected two new members to its board of directors: Cesar Villalpando, Burbank, Calif., and Randall Odzer, Des Moines, Iowa.
Villalpando has spent his career in healthcare and most recently served as senior vice president, enterprise shared services, at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, Calif., where he held several executive and leadership positions during a nearly 30-year tenure.
A graduate of California State University, Villalpando holds a master’s degree in human factors and a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Odzer is the chief financial officer of the U.S. Insurance Solutions division for Principal Financial Group® in Des Moines. He also previously served as CFO at OptumHealth Care Solutions, United Behavioral Health and Cigna Behavioral Health.
Odzer earned his master of business administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
“Cesar is a successful, highly skilled executive capable of moving large organizations to achieve market-leading performance, and Randy brings a wealth of financial and leadership experiences to our board and is known for his reputation of sound judgement, results orientation and leading change,” said Mike Thirtle, Bethesda’s president and CEO.
“We are very fortunate to have them join us in our mission to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the United States.”
Bethesda’s board of directors also has recently elected new officers.
Dr. Virginia Miller became the first woman in the organization’s 114–year-history to be elected board chairman. She directs the Women’s Health Research Center at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
Miller replaces retiring chairman F. Paul Carlson, who Bethesda thanks for his years of service to the organization as a board member and chairman.
Other new officers include Cathy Brondos (Haymarket, Va.), vice chairman; Dr. Roger Burtner (Fullerton, Calif.), treasurer; and Tiffany Manor (New Hartford, Conn.), secretary.
