Kaufman Named Vice President of Operations

Watertown, Wisconsin – Bethesda Lutheran Communities has appointed Susan Kaufman as Vice President of Operations. In her role, Kaufman will oversee Bethesda’s Regional Directors and work with Bethesda’s staff to protect and promote the rights, dignity and privacy of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Kaufman is headquartered in the Chicago area.
“Susan’s years of experience in the developmental disability field have prepared her to take Bethesda’s professional workforce to the next level,” said Lori Anderson, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Residential Services.
Kaufman was formally Vice President of Program Services at Clearbrook in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where she worked for the past 25 years. Before that, she was the Upstate Regional Supervisor for the Illinois Department of Public Aid, Bureau of Disability Services in Chicago. Kaufman also has experience as an Educational Coordinator for the Early Intervention Program at the LaPaz Child Development Center in Chicago.
“Training a quality workforce is essential to quality supports,” Kaufman said. “Meeting staff, training them and shaping them as professionals is my passion. I look forward to helping them work together with the people we support to make the best life possible.”
Kaufman holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University in Chicago. She also earned a master’s in teaching with an emphasis on elementary and special education from Roosevelt University. Kaufman holds an active State of Illinois Nursing Home Administrator license.
