Women We Support Surprised with Day of Pampering
Posted on: December 13, 2016 | Posted by: Brandon Jackson
Bethesda staff wanted to find a way for the women we support who are less likely to get into the community to enjoy a manicure and pedicure.
After seeking out ways to overcome this barrier, a relationship with Colour Bleus Luxury Nail Salon was established. The team agreed to come on November 15 and provide manicures and pedicures for the people we support at the Texas Community Life Center (CLC) in Cypress, Texas.
Five women we support, Maria, Molly, Evelyn, Nora and Myranee, received manicures and pedicures. Each woman chose their nail polish color on their own. Colors varied from green to pink to red.
"It was incredible for us to be able to move beyond just offering a service, and rather be empowered to fulfill someone's dream," said Laketta Hampton, owner of Colour Bleus Luxury Nail Salon. "Since the women have a difficult time traveling out to shops, we decided we wanted to help out. The ladies enjoyed every minute of the activity, and so did we!"
The women had a wonderful time getting pampered.
"It was so amazing to see all the smiling faces from the ladies," said Jalicia Latson, Direct Support Professional at the Texas CLC. "Although they were unable to communicate verbally in many cases, the subtle head movements, smiles and giggles were enough to show how much they appreciated the service."
The people we support and staff loved this event, and hope to bring more opportunities of this type to the people we support. You can help people with disabilities enjoy experiences like this. Share your time, talent and resources, today.
